Dr. Steven D Muckey
Founder – Chief Dental Officer – Managing Director
Dr. Steven D. Muckey is the founder of TLC Dental, Chief Dental Officer and Managing Director of its six dental practices in Florida. He has been a licensed and practicing dentist since 1980, and since that time has developed and successfully
run several dental practices and dental management companies throughout the state. Dr. Muckey’s most recent commendation is the 2017 “Small Business Person Of The Year” awarded by the Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce. In addition, his talented team at TLC Dental-Dania was awarded 2017 Small Business Of The Year. Dr. Muckey received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown University and his Bachelor of Science from UCLA. He served as a Clinical Research Evaluator with Dr. Gordon Christensen for over 17 years, and for the past 20 years has been the only Florida licensed dentist, certified by CADP as a Quality Assurance Consultant. Quality improvement and quality management protocols in all TLC Dental practices set a benchmark for the state. An Able Toastmaster Bronze, Dr. Muckey has lectured internationally to dental school faculty and is now frequently requested to speak in South Florida-with his favorite topic being the “Mouth Body Connection”. Dr. Muckey served four years as a Clinical Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, and for several years has sat on a Credentialing Committee for one of the largest insurance companies in the nation. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the Atlantic Coast District Dental Society, the Broward County Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Georgetown University Alumni Association of Ft. Lauderdale. Dr. Muckey volunteers his services for numerous healthcare and wellness related events throughout South Florida and has been an interviewer for over 25 years for the Georgetown University Admissions Committee. He lives vicariously through the successes of his team.
Dr. Mark Romer, Director
Continuous Quality Improvement
Dr. Romer is a native Floridian and was raised on Miami Beach. After attending the University of Florida (GO Gators!), he was accepted and graduated from the Medical College of Va., Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dental Medicine.
After spending two years in the U.S. Navy, he returned to South Florida to establish a dental practice in Lauderhill for 32 years.
When the dental school at Nova-Southeastern University started, he was an adjunct faculty member until 2006 when he sold his practice and became a full time faculty member at NSU School of Dental Medicine until 2012.
In 2012, Dr. Romer was hired as a founding faculty member at LECOM School of Dental Medicine where he rose to become the Assistant Dean of pre-clinical education until 2017.
Dr. Romer, a well-respected and passionate mentor, has served many positions in organized dentistry including past President of both Broward County Dental Association and Atlantic Coast District Dental Association.
Always extremely supportive of dentistry and in the highest quality of standard care, he will be serving TLC Dental in the role of Director – Continuous Quality Improvement.
Dr. Ria Coutras
Dr. Ria Coutras achieved her dental degree with honors from McGill University (Montreal, Quebec) in 2003. An active leader in student government she was Social Representative and organized the first “White Coat Ceremony”. Dr. Coutras moved
to South Florida where she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Coutras has special training in restoring dental implants including implant supported over-dentures
and cosmetic implants. Many of her patients’ beautiful smiles have been showcased at seminars for her dental colleagues. In addition, she has lectured on topics such as cosmetic implant restorations. Dr. Coutras is fluent in Greek, Spanish, French
Dr. Jared Helfant
Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood
Dr. Jared Helfant who is originally from New York City, moved to Boca Raton, Fl, where he went on to graduate from Olympic Heights Community High School. Dr. Helfant continued his education at the University of Florida, ultimately graduating
suma cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in health science. From there he returned to New York City to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery at New York University’s College of Dentistry. During his stay at NYU he had the opportunity to gain experience
rotating between several of New York City’s top hospitals. Dr. Helfant has special training in cosmetic and family practice and offers the latest in dental technologies to his patients. He is a member in fine standing with professional organizations
such as the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association and the Broward County Dental Association.
Dr. Judith Gartner
Dr. Judith Gartner, received her dental degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas in 1993. After moving to the U.S. she completed an advanced graduate program in Prosthodontics and earned a Master of Medical Sciences degree
at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1997. In addition, she completed the advanced standing program and obtained her DMD degree from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in 2001. She has been in private practice and teaching in the Department
of Prosthodontics at NSU since then. Dr. Gartner has lectured nationally and internationally and has published numerous professional articles. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, and the
American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She is an evaluator for the esteemed Clinicians Report, an non-profit testing center for new products and techniques. Dr. Gartner is fluent in Spanish, Hebrew and English.
Dr. Jennifer Sorroza-Taylor
Hollywood and North Lauderdale
Dr. Jennifer Sorroza-Taylor earned her pre-doctoral dental degree in 1999 from Universidad de Guayaquil, Ecuador. After working as a General Dentist in Ecuador she spent a year at the New York University College of Dentistry as a Resident
in the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Prosthodontics. Her clinical experience includes surgical extractions, clinical crown lengthening surgeries, fixed and removable prosthodontics, basic restorative work and placement and restoration
of implants. After NYU, Dr. Sorroza-Taylor continued her education in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine between 2002-2005. Her Post Doctoral Residency included programs in Advanced Education in
General Dentistry, Special Needs Dentistry, Patients with Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities, Alzheimer’s Disease and Geriatrics and Implant Certification 3I. Dr. Sorroza-Taylor stays up to date by attending continuing education
courses and is an active member of the American Dental Association, The Florida Dental Association and The Atlantic Coast District Dental Association. Dr. Sorroza-Taylor also enjoys spending time with her family, and friends, rollerblading, going
to the park with her two kids, and traveling. Dr. Sorroza-Taylor is fluent in both Spanish and English.
Dr. Henry Jacobsohn
Dr. Henry Jacobsohn believes that “the pursuit of knowledge and techniques in dentistry are ever-evolving and that the joy of creating a healthy smile is everlasting.” After attending the Hebrew Academy of Greater Miami, he earned his
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Miami. He is a proud Hurricane Alumnus! He then earned his Doctorate Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving his
degree, he returned to his hometown, South Florida, where he continues his many years in private practice creating beautiful, healthy smiles. His patients love his relaxed, patient demeanor and always feel that he gives his utmost
dedication and attention to every unique smile he creates. Dr. Jacobsohn brings a vast knowledge to many aspects of dentistry. His skill and passion to the dental field make him a great asset to our TLC Dental team. His other
passion is his family, which includes his wife, Susie, and their three beloved children. Life outside of dentistry includes golf, woodworking and a healthy lifestyle of exercising.
Dr. Ennio DeLeon
Dr. Ennio Deleon received his dental degree from the Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia in 1998. After graduating, he joined his father’s (periodontist) private practice and also worked in Comfenalco Dental Clinic for three years.
In addition, he completed two internships in maxillofacial surgery in Hospital San Rafael de Facatativa in Bogota. Dr. De Leon moved to South Florida where he first worked for one year as an adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University (NSU).
He then completed the International Dental Graduate Program and obtained his DMD degree. Simultaneously, he worked as teacher assistant in the Restorative Department at NSU. Dr. De Leon has special training in oral surgery, restorative dentistry,
prosthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and Florida Dental Association. He likes to spend time with his family and friends, and enjoys traveling. Dr. De Leon is fluent in English and Spanish.
Dr. Milagritos Rios
Coral Springs and Hollywood
Dr. Milagritos Rios graduated from the International Dental Graduate Program at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Davie, Florida. She passionately and eagerly obtained her degree as Doctor in Dental Medicine, DMD.
A native from Peru, she received a Doctor in Dental Surgery degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru and practiced there for several years. Dr. Rios enjoys all branches of dentistry. Her devotion is helping patients to
achieve a better oral health and improving smiles one at a time. She listens to her patients carefully and dedicates a considerable amount of time providing a high quality of dental care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Dr. Rios is
committed to improving her skills and knowledge by taking Dental Continuum Education courses; she is an active member of the American Academic of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association and Academy of General
Dentistry. Besides her passion for dentistry, Dr. Rios loves to spend time with her family and friends; her hobbies are photography, reading, outdoor experiences and traveling.
Dr. Renata F. Cunha
“To provide the most advanced dental care in a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere.” These are the priorities of Dr. Renata Cunha, DDS. Her goal is to rid the average person’s fear of the dentist and increase the longevity of her patient’s
teeth. Whether a patient is just starting to grow their teeth or if they need a full set of dentures, she treats them with ease and an exceptional amount of care and concern. With over 15 years of caring for her patients, Dr. Cunha continues to
take pride in her work. It won’t matter if you are a new patient or if you have been coming back to her for years, she always greets you with a smile and makes you feel right at home. Dr. Renata Cunha has completed two additional years of Advanced
Education in General Dentistry across the U.S. to become an ADA Licensed Dentist. She is a graduate of the University of Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Paulo, Brazil College of Dentistry. She is also a certified and current member of the American Orthodontic
Society. When she’s not in the office, Dr. Cunha continues to spend countless hours studying continuing education in order to stay current with the newest innovations, technology, and techniques in the dental field. Dr. Renata Cunha is a proud
mother of two children. When she’s not in the office she’s off to a swim meet, yoga class, snorkeling in the ocean with fish or relaxing at the beach with her husband and their children.
Dr. Jonathan Mandel
Dr. Mandel grew up outside of Boston and attended Tufts University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. While at Tufts, Dr. Mandel served as Head Teaching Assistant, successfully ran and completed the 2012 Boston Marathon
with the Tufts Marathon Team, and received two prestigious awards upon graduating: The Dr. and Mrs. Albert J. Kazis Endowed Prize Fund in Crown and Bridge; and The Dr. Frank Susi, DG67, Endowed Prize Fund for Future Dental Academics. He is a member
in good standing of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity and is affiliated with the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Mandel believes in treating his patients
like family, and always does his very best to provide the highest level of quality care and attention to his patients. Dr. Mandel is proficient in all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry, and looks forward to getting to know YOU and helping
YOU achieve your dental goals. What are his other passions besides his beloved dentistry? He is also a Chef at heart and attended The French Culinary Institute in New York. When he is not creating beautiful smiles, he is also enjoying other interests
such as tennis, boxing and cycling. In addition, he creates beautiful music playing the piano and enjoys painting and listening to classical music.
Dr. Jennifer Rostock
Dr. Rostock, raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was born to be a dentist. An artist at heart with a passion for science has led her to a career in dentistry creating beautiful, healthy smiles. She’s a graduate of the University
of Maryland Dental School, Class of 2000. Following a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency, Dr. Rostock spent 2 years as a general dentist in the US Army caring for our brave troops in the states and overseas. She’s been
practicing dentistry in South Florida for the last 12 years, where she finds joy in educating her patients & restoring confidence in the beauty of their smiles. Dr. Rostock & her husband, Scott, enjoy watching their son play travel baseball
and daughter perform dance & gymnastics. In her free time, you can find her enjoying the Florida sunshine at the beach or pool with family & friends.
Dr. Ronald J. Morales
Dr. Morales earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (D.M.D.) back in 1993 at Temple University School of Dentistry. The well-being of his patients is his number one priority! Needless to say, Dr. Morales has numerous years of experience,
which also includes working as an experienced laboratory technician in his younger years. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is soft-spoken and easy-going, which puts his patients at ease. He loves to enjoy all that South Florida has to offer,
especially the outdoors. Being a huge advocate for wildlife conservation, he firmly believes in protecting wild plant and animal species and their habitats.
Dr. Natalie Koren
Becoming a dentist was a natural career choice to follow for Dr. Natalie Koren since her father practiced dentistry as a Prosthodontist for 35 years, It’s a contagious admiration passed down from one generation to the next. Graduating from
NYU College of Dentistry in 1995, Dr. Koren completed her externship training in Montefiore Medical Center in New York and proceeded to practice general dentistry in New York city. In 1999, she established her own private practice in Rahway and
Bayville, New Jersey, providing quality family dental care to patients of all age groups. In 2004, Dr. Koren and her family moved down to Florida where she continues to provide the highest level of modern dentistry and dental technology to her
patients. Practicing for over 21 years as a general dentist, having a certification in Invisalign and consistently completing ongoing continuing education courses makes Dr. Koren a versatile, multi-faceted, remarkable addition to our team. On
a personal note, she loves to travel and highly enjoys experiencing various international cuisine.
Dr. Jacob Leibovici
Dr. Jacob Leibovici received his Master’s degree in Physiology before graduating from University of Maryland at Baltimore Dental School in 1995. Then, Dr. Leibovici, always yearning to broaden his knowledge, did a one-year General
Practice Residency in Far Rockaway, New York, where he performed all phases of hospital rotation for dentistry at Peninsula Hospital. He continued his training as an Anesthesia Preceptor in the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in East Brunswick,
New Jersey. Working in a medical school setting, Dr. Leibovici was grateful for the experience to work with over 900 IV sedation (all phases) cases throughout the course of the year.
Dr. Leibovici has been practicing for over 18 years in South Florida as a general dentist specializing in General, Implant, and Cosmetic Dentistry with IV Conscious Sedation. Dr. Jacob Leibovici believes in a modern approach
to providing dental treatments to his patients, especially to those with a history of dental anxiety.He achieved a Diplomate level with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and passed the written exam with the American Academy
of Implant Dentistry.
He has three wonderful children and a beautiful wife that is a talented singer. Going out in the wild with Tough Mudder and Spartan races are some of his all-time favorite things to do in his free time.
Nick Cicortas, D.MD.
Dr. Cicortas was born and grew up in Romania, and emigrated to sunny South Florida in 1998. While completing his pre-doctoral education at Nova Southeastern University, he dedicated a large portion of his time to medical research and community service. It was this meeting of the mind and of the heart that led to his pursuit of dentistry. He was part of the inaugural class of the Lake Erie College of Medicine, Dental School in Bradenton, FL, where he received training in the latest techniques with state-of-the-art equipment.
He then refined and mastered his skills in Cosmetic Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, and Oral Surgery at the LECOM Outreach Clinic in Erie, Pennsylvania where he provided care for the underserved community for one year. After practicing in Lake Worth FL, Dr. Cicortas is excited to be back in his hometown of Hollywood. Dr. Cicortas’ goal is to provide exceptional dentistry to his patients, in a caring and comfortable environment.
When out of the office, Dr. Cicortas enjoys mountain biking, kayaking and spear fishing. His evenings are often spent playing cello – violin duets with his wife Cristina, and walking the Hollywood Beach boardwalk with their son.
